Becky Gibbs – Studio
Art Workshops
The focus of Becky’s work and her workshops is the exploration
of abstract imagery and the use of a variety of media. Becky is
an experienced painter and instructor who leads her students through
a hands-on experience that combines demonstrations, exercises and
one-on-one attention during workshops. She has been working in abstraction
since 1987, and experiments continuously to push her work in new directions.
Conceptually, her work is inspired by nature, and the dual human relationship
with it – escape in its beauty, and complicity in its destruction.
Media used includes watercolor, oils, acrylics, acrylic inks, india
ink and a wide variety of drawing media. Her most recent work in oil
paint is a series called Energeia.
In addition to exhibiting in numerous group shows in the Boston
area, her work is in private collections across the US. She received
her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Bowling Green State University,
Bowling Green, Ohio, in 1983, with continued studies at the DeCordova
Museum School, Lincoln, MA. Since graduating college she has lived
in Ohio, Tampa, Chicago and Boston. Prior to focusing on studio
art, she has worked as an illustrator, silkscreen artist, graphic
designer, corporate designer and art director. She is represented by Galatea Fine Art, Boston, MA.
